Ingredients

  • 1 cup cranberry juice unsweetened or lightly sweetened (240 ml)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or lemon-lime soda for a sweeter version (240 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice about half a lime (15 ml)
  • Fresh cranberries for garnish
  • Lemon or orange slices for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves optional garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Prepare the glass

  • Fill your serving glass with ice cubes.
  • Tip: Chill the glass in the freezer for 10 minutes first so the drink stays cold longer.
  • For a festive touch, run a lime wedge around the rim and dip it into sugar or coarse salt.

Mix the base

  • In a small pitcher or measuring jug, combine the cranberry juice and lime juice.
  • Tip: Roll the lime firmly on the counter before cutting—it helps release more juice.
  • Keep the juices well chilled before mixing, so the drink doesn’t rely too heavily on melting ice.

Add the sparkle

  • Pour the juice mixture over the ice in your glass.
  • Top with sparkling water (or soda) last, stirring gently to keep the fizz intact.
  • Tip: For a deeper flavor, add a splash of orange juice or even a drop or two of non-alcoholic bitters.

Garnish & serve

  • Slip a lemon or orange slice onto the rim.
  • Drop in a few cranberries, and tuck in a sprig of mint.
  • For more aroma, lightly bruise a mint leaf before adding - it releases essential oils without turning bitter.
  • Enjoy immediately while it’s cold and fizzy.

Notes

Tips to make it yours
  • Want it sweeter? Use lemon-lime soda or flavored sparkling water.
  • Need it lighter? Stick to unsweetened cranberry juice and plain sparkling water.
  • If you're making this cranberry juice for a crowd, scale the cranberry and lime juices in a large pitcher and refrigerate. Let guests top their own glasses with sparkling water just before serving so every pour stays bubbly.
