- 1 cup cranberry juice 240 ml, unsweetened or lightly sweetened
- 1 cup sparkling water 240 ml, or lemon-lime soda for a sweeter version
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice 15 ml, about half a lime
- Fresh cranberries for garnish
- Lemon or orange slices for garnish
- Fresh mint leaves optional garnish
- Ice cubes
Fill a serving glass with ice. For a rim, run a lime wedge around the edge and dip it in sugar or coarse salt.
In a small pitcher or measuring jug, combine the cranberry juice and lime juice, both well chilled.
Pour the juice mixture over the ice, top with the sparkling water and stir once, gently.
Add a lemon or orange slice and a few cranberries, tuck in a mint sprig and serve right away.
- Make ahead: mix the cranberry juice and lime juice up to 24 hours ahead and keep it covered in the fridge. Add the sparkling water only as you pour.
- For a crowd: one 64-ounce bottle of cranberry juice, about 4 limes and two 1-liter bottles of sparkling water make 8 drinks.
- Sweetness: pure unsweetened cranberry juice gives the sharpest drink. A 100% juice blend or cranberry juice cocktail is sweeter, and lemon-lime soda sweetens it further and adds calories.
