- 1 cup cranberry juice, unsweetened or lightly sweetened (240 ml)
- 1 cup sparkling water, or lemon-lime soda for a sweeter version (240 ml)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, about half a lime (15 ml)
- Fresh cranberries for garnish
- Lemon or orange slices for garnish
- Fresh mint leaves optional garnish
- Ice cubes
Fill a tall glass with ice. For a party rim, run a lime wedge around the edge and dip it in sugar or coarse salt.
In a small pitcher or measuring jug, combine the cranberry juice and lime juice. Use both well chilled.
Pour the juice mixture over the ice, top with sparkling water, and stir once gently to keep the fizz.
Add a lemon or orange slice to the rim, drop in a few cranberries, and tuck in a mint sprig. Serve immediately.
Make ahead: mix the cranberry and lime up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate. Add sparkling water only at serving, and don't stretch past a day, since the fresh lime fades first.
Sweetness: unsweetened 100% juice gives the sharpest drink. Cranberry juice cocktail or lemon-lime soda both make it sweeter.
Frozen cranberries can stand in for fresh and chill the drink without diluting it.
