Ingredients

  • 16 oz. frozen mango
  • 12 oz. mango nectar adjust for consistency
  • 1 cup ice for a thick, slushy texture
  • 1 lime juiced (adds a bright, fresh kick)
  • 3 tbsp chamoy sauce plus extra for drizzling
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar optional, for added sweetness
  • 2 tbsp Tajín seasoning for that signature spicy-salty rim
  • Tamarind candy sticks (tamarind straws)

Instructions

Step 1: Blend the Mango Mixture

  • In a high-speed blender, combine frozen mango, mango nectar, ice, lime juice, and sugar.
  • Blend until smooth. Avoid over-blending to keep the consistency thick and slushy.
  • If it’s too thick, add a splash more mango nectar or water. If too thin, add more frozen mango or ice.

Step 2: Prepare the Glasses

  • Slightly warm the chamoy sauce for a few seconds to make it easier to coat the rims.
  • Dip the rims of your glasses in chamoy, then coat them generously in Tajín seasoning.
  • Drizzle extra chamoy sauce inside the glasses, creating a beautiful layered effect.

Step 3: Assemble and Serve

  • Pour the mango mixture into the prepared glasses.
  • Drizzle a little more chamoy on top and sprinkle extra Tajín for an extra kick.
  • Garnish with fresh mango slices or a lime wedge for a vibrant finishing touch.
  • Insert a tamarind candy straw (or a regular straw if unavailable) and serve immediately!

Notes

Tips for the Best Mangonada
✅ Use High-Quality Mangoes – Fresh mangoes that are frozen at peak ripeness give the best flavor.
✅ Layer the Chamoy – Drizzling chamoy in layers as you pour creates an even distribution of flavors.
✅ Make It Less Sweet or More Spicy – Adjust the sugar and chamoy levels to match your taste.
✅ Mangonadas are best served fresh, but you can store the mango mixture in the freezer for up to a day. Just re-blend before serving.
✅ Prepare Ahead – Freeze mango chunks in advance for a faster, creamier drink.
✅ Homemade Chamoy – If you love making things from scratch, prepare homemade chamoy and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
Serving Ideas and Variations
  • Add a Shot of Tequila or Rum for an adults-only version.
